Holy Prophet of God, you were counted worthy to encounter God’s voice as light as a soft breeze, having made your body light by an ascetic and holy life. Therefore, I implore you that, lightening the grossness of my mind by your prayers, you would shine on me with divine beams of repentance and grace.

As of old you parted the river Jordan with your holy mantle in order to cross over, O all-blessed man of God, so too dry up the streams of my dreadful sins, sending upon my soul each day showers of tears, granting me a torrent of spiritual delights.

From the many forms of stumbling blocks in life, from lawless foes, from every tribulation, from bodily disease and perversion of soul, and from eternal condemnation, as a loving protector, deliver me by your prayers, O glorious Prophet, I cry out to you.

You were snatched up to the heights of heaven, glorious Elias, leaving behind your servant Elisha who prayed for a double portion of your spirit. With faithful Elisha, who was made victorious with you as an unashamed protector of the honour of God, I ask that you ceaselessly beg victory for me from heaven and the forgiveness of my sins and offences. Amen.
