The Saints are first and foremost models of virtue, who have been singled out and canonised by the Church because they shine with the love and sanctity of God, and who intercede for us in Heaven even as we intercede for one another on earth.
The Saints are perhaps the greatest living proof of God’s existence–even more important than any logical proof. They remind us of our eternal welfare. And they help us to reach our true home in Heaven, as our true brothers and sisters in the Lord.
St Paul compared the Saints to the members of a physical body: the Saints are living members of the Body of Christ, the Church (see: 1 Corinthians, chapter 12).
